Straight behind Cayman Sands (about 250 yard kick on your back)
is a "Mini-Wall" of beautiful corals that slopes down to a round
"sand-patch" in about 45 feet of water. This sand patch has a
resident turtle, rays, lobster, etc-- and only 50 yds further is the
famous Cayman Wall. The top of the wall is only at 50 feet-- so a
dive to 100 feet feels like you are much deeper. Black corals,
gorgonians, sponges, etc. all blanket the wall here. It is rarely
dived and in pristine shape. Swimming east against the wall there is
a hidden swim thru (vertical crack) at 90 feet. Many times on the
east side of this crack we have spotted a lone hammerhead shark (not
really very big) swimming out in the blue. Rarely we see spotted
eagle rays, wahoo and larger turtles. |
